The FIFA World Cup Players Details

The 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year awards took place on 21 December 2009 Zürich, Switzerland.
The much-expected winner, Lionel Messi, won the FIFA world player award of 2009.

The shortlists of 23 men and 10 women were announced on 30 October 2009, earlier during the year. In addition, all the national coaches in the world along with the national team captains did the voting. To see the detailed list, click here
2009 was an amazing year for Barcelona who won six competitions and their star, Messi, took away 2 awards. As for the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year awards, the winner was none other than the Brazilian Marta Vieira da Silva.

It was all down to El Clásico players this year. The stars of Barcelona and Real Madrid

2- Cristiano Ronaldo took 352 points and he plays for Real Madrid
3- Xavi took 196 points and plays for Barcelona
